Why is sleep important?

We all know sleep is important obviously. The body and brain need it to recharge to stay healthy. According to study, most adults need at least 7 hours of sleep to function properly.

There are many repercussions to sleep deprivation. The obvious ones are tiredness, reduced cognitive functions and mood swings, but there are a lot of other negative impacts that can occur with a continuous lack of sleep.

An insufficient amount of sleep is linked to higher risks of medical conditions like obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.

Plus, if we are into fitness, sleep is the key to restore the muscles. It will also help to control the cravings and establish a healthy routine. When the body is tired, its hormones are more likely to be out of balance as well. Therefore, making people eat more than they would normally. And clearly, a good night of sleep will improve athletic performances.
