What are nootropics?

Nootropics, also known as “smart drugs”, are supplements that enhance the cognitive functions, such as memory, creativity, focus, concentration, and motivation. They have been numerous studies done to developed nootropics synthetically and naturally. Previous research has observed the impact of synthetic nootropics on treating memory disorders, like Alzheimer’s disease.

Nootropics (/noʊ.əˈtroʊpɪks/ noh-ə-TROHP-iks, or /noʊ.əˈtrɒpɪks/ noh-ə-TROP-iks[1]) (colloquial: smart drugs and cognitive enhancers) are drugs, supplements, and other substances that are claimed to improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals.

Natural nootropics, not only enhance the mental functions of the brain, but also improves its health. Nootropics act as a vasodilator against the small arteries and veins in the brain, providing an increased blood circulation to the brain. Therefore, more nutrients, energy, and oxygen are circulating to the brain.

They are also known to have a good impact on neurotransmitter, like dopamine, which is release when the brain experience pleasure. Caffeine, L-Theanine, Creatine are some examples of natural nootropics.
